A problem recently brought to my attention is that of finding books suitable for younger readers with an older reading age. One friend has a 6 1/2 year old with a reading age of 10. The problem isn't finding books for a 10 year old - that's easy - the problem is finding books with an appropriate reading age, but covering material of interest to a 7 year old!

Here are a few titles and authors that have been suggested:
