Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Musa Al-Khwarizmi, Persian Mathematician (c780-c850) called the Father of Algebra, wrote the book "al-Kitab al-muhtasar fi hisab al-jabr wa-l-muqabala" meaning "The Compendious Book on Calculation by Completion and Balancing". The word "Al-jabr" in the title means "reunion" from which the word algebra is derived.
