Advice For New Users

An eclipse is when one object casts a shadow on another. The shadowed object is said to be eclipsed by the object casting the shadow.

If the Earth casts its shadow on the Moon it's a Solar Eclipse, and if the Moon casts its shadow on the Earth then it's a Lunar Eclipse.

When one object passes out of view behind another it is said to be eclipsed from view. This is especially of interest when viewing the moons of Jupiter, especially with regards the Longitude Problem.
